THE PACT ACT

The PACT ACT is a new law that expands VA Healthcare and benefits for those veterans exposed to Burn Pits contaminants, Agent Orange, and other toxic substance exposures during your service tenure.

The PACT ACT has now added more to the list of health conditions we assume (or "presume") are caused by exposure to these highly toxic subsances. The is a law to help generations of veterans, and their survivors, with benefits they have earned and deserve.

The PACT Act is perhaps the largest healthcare and benefits expansion in VA history. The full name of the law is the Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act. The PACT Act directly addresses:

  • Expanding and extending eligibility for VA Heathcare for veterans with toxic exposures and veterans of Vietnam, the Gulf War, and post 9/11 era.

  • Adds 20-plus more presumptive conditions for burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances.

  • Adds more presumptive locations for Agent Orange and radiation.

  • Requires VA to provide a toxic exposure screening for "every" Veteran enrolled in VA Healthcare.

  • Improves research, staff education, and treatment related to toxic exposures.

This new law (THE PACT ACT) represents a significant step toward batter care and support for those who have served our nation! "If you're a Veteran who may have been exposed tp toxins or hazards while serving your  country, at home or abroad, we want you to come to us for the health care you deserve," says VA Secretary Dennis MacDough.

VA Under Secretary for Health Shereef Elnahal, M.D. added, "We're making millions of Veterans eligible for health care earlier than csllerdf for by the PACT Act. With this expansion, VA can care for all Veterans who served in the Vietnam War, Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan, Global War on Terror, or sny other combat zone after 911. We also care for Veterans who have never been deployed but were exposed to toxins or hazards while training or on active duty here at home - by working with chemicals, pesticides, lead, asbestos, certain paints, nuclear weapons, x-rays, and more.We want to bring all those Veterans to the VA forthe care they deserve."
